Look who’s causing a stir for MS Society

01/03/14 - South Side Advertiser

UTV favourite Julian Simmons is aiming to bake a difference for the MS Society by supporting Cake Break.

Cake Break is a scrumptious way to fundraise for people affected by MS (multiple sclerosis) across Northern Ireland. Simply invite friends, family and colleagues to have some tasty treats in return for a donation. This year the MS Society is aiming to raise £350,000 to fund research and support.

Julian was joined by Lord Mayor of Belfast Máirtín Ó Muilleoir and Esther Kerrigan (3) from Belfast to launch the fundraiser.

Julian said: “I’m delighted to support the MS Society’s delicious fundraiser Cake Break. I’d like to encourage everyone to get their pinnies on and whip up something special to show your support for everyone affected by MS in Northern Ireland. There are more than 4,000 living people living with the condition here, one of the highest rates in the world. So let’s get baking to help beat MS! Every penny raised will make a real difference”.

Cake Break is taking place during May 2014. You can sign up yourself by going to www.cakebreak.org.uk or contact the MS Society Northern Ireland on 028 90 802 802

The MS Society is the leading national charity for people with MS. More than 100,000 people are living with multiple sclerosis in the UK. Most people are diagnosed in their 20s and 30s and the condition affects almost three times as many women as men. MS can get steadily worse, or remain unpredictable throughout your life – one day you can be fine, the next you might lose your sight or be unable to move.
