Peninsula Print helps local children get to grips with nature

Schoolchildren from twenty primary schools across the Ards Peninsula are discovering how nature uses colour and design to survive, through a renewed series of education workshops funded by local business, Peninsula Print and Design.

Using a mix of fun, hands-on activities developed and delivered by Ulster Wildlife, children are learning about nature’s amazing adaptations, from flowers attracting insect pollinators, ladybirds advertising danger to moths disguising themselves using camouflage, and how humans have taken inspiration from nature’s creations in their everyday lives.

“We’re delighted to have joined forces again with Peninsula Print to help more local children get to grips with nature, and discover how the world around them works,” said Christine Chambers, Discovery and Learning Officer from Ulster Wildlife.

“Funding for education has been hard hit recently and it is only with the continued support of local businesses, such as Peninsula Print, that we can continue to inspire young people about nature on their doorstep, and encourage a willingness to act on its behalf.”

Gary Withers, Managing Director of Peninsula Print & Design said, “We are delighted to renew our support again for this worthwhile education programme and enable more local children in our area to connect with nature. The guiding principle behind Peninsula Print and Design is our desire to deliver the best service, quality and value. But equally important is our belief in the importance of giving something back to the local community.

“Over the years, we’ve developed close ties with many local organisations, community groups and colleges. Our partnership with the Ulster Wildlife Trust is a further expression of this and it also underpins our corporate commitment to the issue of environmental awareness.”

Peninsula Print and Design’s green credentials extend into its manufacturing processes, and is an IS0 environmentally accredited commercial print operation. The local business also supports Ulster Wildlife’s work as a corporate member.
