Enabling works for the new multi-purpose sports and leisure facility at Dairy Hall, Newtownards, are complete

Our new centre at Dairy Hall will replace Ards Leisure Centre at William Street, Newtownards.  The enabling works for the new centre involved road realignment, including introducing a new roundabout, utility updates and the construction of the entrance road for the new centre. Our contractor, FP McCann, completed the enabling works. 
 
Paving the way for new council facility
Welcoming this development, Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Alan Graham, said: “These enabling works literally ‘pave the way’ for the new leisure facility at Dairy Hall and we are delighted that they are now finished.  As with any such works, there was a level of disruption.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank local residents for their patience throughout the process.  It is exciting for all those involved that we are now seeing work progressing ‘on the ground’ on this very significant investment in new facilities.”   

Building the new leisure centre
Following on from the enabling works, construction of the new leisure centre should start  in summer 2016.  The estimated date for completion is 2018.  
 
Indoor and outdoor leisure facilities
The new leisure centre at Dairy Hall represents an investment of £28M. The centre will have modern indoor and outdoor leisure facilities such as a fitness suite, swimming with children’s splash zone, a high quality spa, indoor sports hall, outdoor covered pitch, outdoor adventure playground, a wheel park for skateboarding and BMX and a mountain biking provision.
